Make your own Haggadahהגדה ברורה לך

הגדה ברורה is less a new Haggadah than it is a new way of using the Haggadah we already have. Its purpose is simply to show you how the Maggid we all use today with a mix of puzzlement and apathy can be (and should be) used as an effective tool to tell the story of yetziat mitzrayim. However, there’s far more than one way to the story of the exodus from Egypt.

In הגדה ברורה I have created the kind of Haggadah I want to use at Seder night, focusing on interpretative disputes among p’shat oriented Rishonim that I find personally interesting. Others, however, might prefer to tell the story following the interpretations of a particular commentator, to illustrate it with aggadic midrashim, use homiletic commentaries, or to employ the results of research into ancient Egyptian history.

In order to help as many people as possible have a meaningful Seder night and relate the story of yetziat mitzrayim in an engaging and stimulating way, I’ve made the MS Word file of  הגדה ברורה with the commentary boxes empty. You can fill in these boxes with whatever you need to tell the exodus story this Seder night. If you’re interested in sharing your work with the world, then send it to me afterwards and I’ll put in online.

There’s only one rule, follow the structure of the Maggid as it’s supposed to be read and remember that you are supposed to be explaining the exodus story, not the Haggadah itself.

N.B. You will need to install the fonts Keter YG and Frank Ruehl, which you can download from here.
